Martha Stewart's Spooky, Scary Sounds for Halloween
Release Date: 2000

Reviews:
What I like about this CD is that the sounds are spooky, not scary. I have a young child with young friends and this is great for parties because it's very Halloween-ish without being frightening. I also play it out the window while the trick-or-treaters come and we hear a lot of the kids saying, "Cool!" when they hear it. It's spooky and yet doesn't freak anybody out.
-a music fan, Amazon.com Reviewer

I'm a fan of Martha, and I *love* Halloween music. When I heard she made a Halloween album it was "get out the credit card and call Amazon" time. But this album was a disappointment--I'm going to assume Martha didn't actually design this, but just signed off on it, to maintain my faith in her. The sound quality is good--very crisp recording of ambient Halloween noise. It's fine for background music for the trick-or-treaters. But for any other use it's flawed. There's only a single, album-length track, so no putting this one on "shuffle" for your Halloween party. The sounds repeat, so after 20 minutes of this, you start getting deja vu. And there aren't even "themes" in the album--no plots, which some of the more elaborate Halloween scary sound effects SFX albums have (this is the "torture chamber piece," this is "Alone by gaslight stalked by Jack the Ripper..." I'm going to wait for an apology from Martha on this one.

Haunted House Horrors
Release Date: 1999

Reviews:
This is an excellent blend of scary sounds and background for a truly terrifying haunted house. The individual tracks follow a theme, but they blend well together. Many of the segments can get almost disturbing! Some of the screams and cries for help will frighten the very young and make the elders a bit uncomfortable. But as far as a "serious" and non-comedic haunted house CD filled with scary sounds, this is the best I have found.
-Wes Wilson, Amazon.com Reviewer

I like this CD because you can add background music to it. I like the scary sounds that it blends with the tracks. I like listening to this CD because it makes a great CD to listen to in the darkness of your home. I add scary choral music for tracks one and two, such as the Beginning Of The End, and The Spell. I also add the scary sounds and music from Poltergeist to track twelve which is called The Reaper Returns. I also think that this would be a great CD for your Halloween party or if you're directing a horror film and might need this. I'm grateful for this CD. I recommend this CD to anyone who is a horror movie fan because it has all the scary sounds  you need to make a great horror flick.

This "scary sounds" CD is very cool. I like all the tracks on this CD. Be warned! this CD will create Hysteria. it's also the CD that will make you have nightmares. If you future fans want to buy it, then prepare yourselves because it'll scare the love out of you. That's why the title of my review is called Scary Sounds to scare the love out of you.

Halloween Sound Effects
Release Date: 1999

If you are looking for individual scary sound effects, this is a good CD to buy. It is not designed to be played in its entirety for trick-or-treaters. Rather, you should use it to record individual tracks for other uses. When used in this manner, it is an excellent CD of scary sounds. The tracks are separated by blank space so it is easy to select individual sounds. There is a good range of scary sounds, from spoken words ("Welcome to my house"), to classic Halloween sounds, to futuristic sounds. I use this in my front yard by recording individual sounds on a cassette tape, separated by 30 seconds of silence. Walk through my yard and you will hear a witch cackle, wolf howl, and evil laughs every so often. It's true that some of the sound effects are not realistic or scary (wolves howling, spirits moaning). They are more 'theatrical' than realistic. Still, for the price and purpose, this is a good scary sound effects CD.
-scottm2251, Amazon.com Reviewer

I have bought about 10 scary sounds CDs for Halloween; and this one sadly rates as one of the worst. Quality recording and editing is about the only good thing I can say about it. The tracks of people laughing sound forced and artificial; the spirits sound like a couple of junior-high schoolers. The tracks of screams are just screams, without any force or fear in them. The vast majority of the tracks are very short, even less than 5 seconds, don't offer anything especially spooky or scary, and the CD is virtually useless to play for trick-or-treaters on Halloween. It would have been far better if the creators used their talents to make several collages of scary sounds grouped according to various themes. Several years ago, you'd have to make do with something as mediocre as this. But these days there are lots of other Halloween CD alternatives. If you want real satisfaction,
skip this waste of money and go for one of those alternatives.

Sounds of Halloween Night
Release Date: 1998

If you already have "Wolfman Jack's Halloween Special" cd and "Fright Night Scary Sounds" CD, don't buy this one. It's the exact same CD only with a different cover and title. What a rip-off. The worst part is that one is unable to listen to a sample of "Sounds of Halloween Night" therefore making you buy the CD only to find out it is a duplication of others out there. I thought it was against the law to duplicate or copy other CDs? .. and yet companies are doing it and selling them.  On a brighter note, I do like this CD. I've had the original for 2 years. It's fun for haunting Halloweeners with scary sounds and effects. But I do need a new Halloween CD and I've already spent approx. $30.00 plus and have been disappointed.
-A Music Fan, Amazon.com Reviewer

Being a single track disc of Halloween music and effects lasting nearly 72 minutes, this is great if you plan to play this on your doorstep on Halloween night for your trick or treats. A little better than the generic sound effects CDs you find at your local retail stores for $.97. But this isn't such a bad price. What originally persuaded me into purchasing this disc was the awesome cover, and I consider it to be pleasing and a haunting addition for Halloween fun. Also ideal for parties and haunted houses if you plan to have scary sounds for your guests. Happy Halloween!

Sound Effects: Horror & Sci-Fi
Release Date: 1995

Review:
If you're looking for a wealth of scary sounds that occur in discrete chunks - that is, in less than two-minute episodes - then Sounds of Horror, Sci-Fi, the Weird is ideal. With 63 tracks ranging from "Wind and Shutters Banging" to "Mad Doctor's Operating Room" and "Chainsaw Starting and Running,", this collection is the work of unadulterated sonic grimness. Which is to say, it's perfect if you want to set a mood in parts of the house for fright night, or if you want to play multiple CDs to keep the party guests on their toes. The scary sound effects aren't interwoven, but they come with enough proximity to each other to keep the mind and heart racing as one bursts, only to subside and introduce another. No cheesy compressed bits here, as everything is vivid and bright - at least sonically. After all, its all dark (except for the bizarre "Hip, Hop Hooray Cheers" or "Surf and Seagulls").
-Andrew Bartlett, Amazon.com Editorial Reviewer

This scary sound effects CD is a great scary sound CD for when you're accompanying an occultist and a horror fanatic like me. This CD is a great CD to scare the love out of you. This CD is a good thing to have to spark terror into the hearts of your enemies. I like all the tracks including Scary Organ Music, and Horror Background. I played the music from The Omen for one of the tracks. That track is Chimes Big Ben. It's the scary sound I'm talking about. I played the scary sounds of Big Ben to accompany the song Ave Satan. It's a good buy for all future music fans. I'd like you to buy it! because It'll satisfy you. It'll fill you to the brim.

Scary Sound Effects
Release Year: 1994

Review:
Whether you're trying to create your own personal haunted house or just creep out selected family members, this extensive compendium offers pretty much every spooky sound imaginable. Witches, wolf-men, and windstorms cackle madly through some tracks, while eerie music - piper organ and Theremin mostly - provides moody accompaniment and scary sounds to your own ghostly tales. And for those of you who like to throw in a little "trick" of your own before offering treats to the neighborhood kids, cue up one of the disc's dozen or so scary door greetings (we're partial to the grave "We're Digging Up Your Treats" option). Although it clocks in at just 45 minutes, Scary Sound Effects will offer many hours of fun, year after year.
- David Sprague, Amazon.com Editorial Reviewer

This CD of Scary Sound Effects is very brewing indeed. I like this because of the scariest sounds ever produced. I like all the tracks including! Go Home, Get Away From Here, Welcome To Our House, Witches Brew, Witch Casts A Spell, Pipe Organ And Ghost, The Theremin Orchestra, and of course that Wolfman growling. This is one of the greatest CDs of scary sounds ever. If you want something to celebrate Halloween, or if you want to play it all year around! Then I suggest you buy this scary sounds CD and enjoy. I've bought this at a music store in Vancouver back in 1997. You'll love it. So buy it and enjoy the good and scary sounds.

Review:
This is an outstanding collection of scary sounds and horror sounds. You might use it if  you're filming a horror movie, or if you're waiting for Halloween. I bought this last year and I wasn't disappointed. That dog growling part will remind those who listen to it about a scene from The Omen. That Erie Space Like Wow reminds me of Something from one of the science fiction films. I also like the scraping gong, shower curtain, the wind sounds, Stormy Night, and Intruder Alert. This album is one you won't want to miss. It's got spooky sound effects, horror sounds, and Halloween sounds. It'll scare the love out of you. To all future horror sound fans...this is an absolute great scary sound effects album. You'll love it.
-q1A, Amazon.com Reviewer

There's some good sounds on here and unlike other sound effect CDs there's a track listing in the cover booklet for all 101 tracks. The times listed in the CD cover booklet aren't the same length as on the actual CD though.

Some of the tracks go for too long and would have been more affective as shorter tracks and you end up skipping to the next at times. I particularly liked the scream tracks. A great collection of horror sounds and scary sounds.
-James Simpson, Amazon Reviewer

If you're planning a Haunted House for Halloween then this is a must have. It gives the final eerie effects and scary sounds that you need to complete your Halloween plans. I highly recommend this, as a Horror fan.
